Louise Holzhauer, M.A., Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern #IMH-7718

As a young, married woman I experienced a medical crisis which precipitated a deep and long-lasting depression. A compassionate friend helped me struggle through that time emotionally and spiritually. It became my desire to pass along that same experience of the body of Christ to other hurting people. After recovering, I began to write and teach women’s Bible studies at Orangewood Presbyterian Church, and I decided to attend Reformed Theological Seminary in order to be better prepared for that ministry. In addition to working on a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies, I earned a Master’s in Counseling from RTS in 2008. During the process I interned with VITAS Hospice and served as the volunteer chaplain at a nursing care center. I also gained several hundred hours of individual and family counseling experience at the Oviedo Counseling Center.

I will be serving a volunteer internship in Member Care at Orangewood. I am the wife of a church elder and the proud mother of two adult children. My other interests include Armonia Ministries (a mission organization in Mexico), prayer, good books, and friends.
My own experience has taught me that our unique paths through life are stories that God is telling the world. When we follow Jesus, the Man of Sorrow, it is certain to lead us to tears, but He has already walked that road ahead of us. When we offer back to Him what He has given to us, whether joy or sorrow, He is glorified. I want to help individuals and families find the kind of hope that has been given to me, and I would count it a privilege to accompany you on your journey to become all that God is creating you to be.
