Grace is a high school student at Orangewood Christian School. She went on the Honduras trip last year as well, and provided these answers before leaving this time. Thanks, Grace!
1) Why are you going on this trip?
I am going on this trip because I went last year and it was probably one of the best experiences I have had. I loved working with the kids. I especially loved working in the pharmacy and in nursing for a day because I went to be a nurse or a pharmacist when I grow ip so that really sparked my interest. I loved the people that I went with and just overall has such a great time.
2) What makes you a good fit for this trip based on your skills, experiences or passions?
The thing that makes me a good fit for this trip is that I am hardworking. I put forth all my effort to get the job done. I like having a good time and serving others. I am energetic, and very happy!
3) How is your life different after going to Honduras last year?
My life is different after going on Honduras because it helps me realize all the little things that I take for granted. For example clean running water, air conditioning, doctors, transportation, a bed, school, etc. After going on this trip is just helped teach me that God provides everything I need and that I should be more thankful for what I have.
4) What was your experience like? What things were different than you expected?
My experience was very eye-opening. It showed me the different cultures and lifestyle people live in. I loved getting transported by standing in the back of the pick up trucks. It was fun feeling the wind in your hair and just taking a look out at the beautiful scenery of the mountains and the people. I enjoyed going to the different villages and just all around sharing the love of Jesus Christ. I loved coming back to the hotel after a long day of work and just being in fellowship with the mission team.
5) How do you know more about the character of God after going to Honduras?
I know more about the character of God after going on this trip because I realized that God is so good and that God loves each and every one of us. I saw God through all the kids. The expressions on their faces when we were giving the kids stickers, or bracelets, or through the parents when we provided them the medical attention that they have been seeking. It overwhelmed me with the fact that its the little things in life that bring us the most joy. I saw God reveal his loving character throughout the trip because the love everyone had for one another was unfathomable. God is real and I saw him working through me and other, using our strengths and talents that he has given us to help contribute to the mission work.
