We believe that God has commanded us to demonstrate our trust in him by faithfully giving back a portion of the resources that he has given us.
We thank you for your tithes and offerings to the Lord’s work here at Orangewood. Please take a moment to consider Orangewood’s interpretation of terms like stewardship, tithes, offerings and storehouse giving.
…recognizes the Biblical principle that everything we have belongs to the Lord and all that we have God has given us to manage. (1 Chronicles 29:11-12)
…is the Biblical concept of giving 10% back to the Lord. (Malachi 3:10) Offerings are whatever we give over and above our tithe.
…is a term related to how much of what we give is to be given directly to the local church to which we belong (Malachi 3:10). Orangewood interprets this to mean that its members should give their full tithe to Orangewood while offerings may be given for the Lord’s work at Orangewood and/or elsewhere.
2 Corinthians 8 and 9 are also helpful to our understanding that we are to excel in the grace of giving (8:7); that we reap what we sow (9:6); and that we are to give cheerfully (9:7).
