Q&A with Edward, our new Technical Director
Johannah Huber

Hey Edward! We’re so happy to have you on staff with us as our new Technical Director! Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself?

What drew you to Orangewood?

We found MCP and OCS when our oldest was 3 years old, and we were looking for a preschool. We met Betsy Wilson, and from that point forward, we felt that Orangewood was the community for us. When our second daughter was born, we decided to join Orangewood church, which was the best decision we could have made for our family.

What are you excited about for your new role?

I originally started in a tech department at a church (1993), so it’s natural to come back to the church and make use of my skills.

What were you doing before you came to Orangewood?

Teaching Broadcast television at Full Sail University, working as a freelance broadcast technician, lighting designer, and other roles in the commercial and music video industry.

Where are you from?

Middleburg, Florida (Jacksonville area)

Tell us a little bit about your family.

I met my wife Kristen on a movie set in Miami over 19 years ago, and we have our own production company together. Our kids, Samantha, 16; Mikayla, 12; Jackson, 11; and Alexandra, 10, are current students at OCS.

Favorite food?

BBQ, I like to smoke meats like brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and chicken. My kids say I’m the best outdoor cooker.

Favorite place to eat?

Local diners and non-chain restaurants.

Guilty pleasure?

Playing on my ham radio, making contacts worldwide without the internet.

Favorite author?

Haven’t read many books in my adult years, and most of my reading is tech manuals and trade magazines. However, in my youth, my favorite author was C.S. Lewis.

Favorite music?

I love all music…from bluegrass to EDM to rock to country.

Hidden Talent:

I was classically trained in voice.

Fun fact:

I like to name my vehicles: Carla the Caravan, Jorge the Journey, etc. It’s something that I picked up from my grandmother.
