Arise & Go: Encouragement in Action…
Johannah Huber

Our Arise & Go challenges aren’t just about big gestures; they’re about noticing opportunities to step in, encourage, and lift others up in everyday moments.

Sometimes, God gives us chances to act through the youngest among us, reminding us that faith and kindness know no age.

In our recent Discovering Orangewood class, our OKids experienced a simple but powerful way to live out this calling: encouraging one another as they worked together on a creative project.

The challenge that week was to encourage, compliment, or comfort a stranger. For kids who were getting to know each other, or didn’t know each other at all, this could have felt tricky. But what unfolded was a powerful reminder of God’s heart.

They were tasked with creating a cardboard robot, a creative project everybody can get involved in. At first, some felt frustrated or overwhelmed, and one child even said, “I can’t do this. It’s too hard.”

But in that moment, when the kids could’ve given in to their frustrations and abandoned this cardboard creation, other kids rallied around them, saying things like, “You got this!” and offering a helping hand.

Together, our OKids turned this challenging task into a moment of teamwork, kindness, and encouragement in action.

It was a simple act, but the impact was clear. These kids demonstrated the heart of our “Arise & Go” challenges: when they noticed someone in need, they stepped in without hesitation.

Teamwork makes the dream work!

Sometimes God uses the smallest hands and the youngest voices to teach us the biggest lessons: that encouragement matters, kindness spreads, and that stepping up for someone else is always worth it.

Where is God calling you to encourage someone else this week? Maybe it’s with a friend, a family member, or even  a stranger at the grocery store… jump in today and tell us your story at orangewood.org/story.
