Arise & Go: From Brandon Lake to Bangladesh…
Our Arise & Go challenges are not just for adults: God calls ALL of us to arise and go wherever he has placed us in life, whether we’re young, old, or somewhere in between.
While attending his very first concert with his parents to see Christian artist Brandon Lake, seven-year-old Gavin seized his moment to say yes to that familiar nudge of the Holy Spirit.

Gavin and his parents at the concert!
In the midst of good music and performance, Gavin heard stories about children around the world in need of clean water, healthcare, and hope. During one part of the evening, volunteers walked through the crowd, inviting people to join in on making a difference. Gavin turned to his mom and said, “Mommy, I want to do that.”
His mom encouraged him to listen to his calling and raise his hand. And so, in boldness, Gavin raised his hand and received the sponsorship card of a seven-year-old soccer-loving boy named Billal from Bangladesh.

Gavin and his new sponsorship!
Gavin and his family learned more about Billal and how Gavin’s sponsorship would help pay for access to clean water and healthcare that he did not regularly have.
Later that night, as Gavin’s dad shared how proud he was that Gavin raised his hand, Gavin’s response was simple, “That’s what we as Christians are supposed to do, even if it means giving the money we have to care for others.”
It was a reminder that God can stir big faith in even the smallest hearts. We’re reminded that this life-changing story is not just for adults: Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 9:14
Through his courage and compassion, Gavin reminded his family of what childlike faith is all about — it’s as simple as listening to the Holy Spirit’s nudge and saying yes.
