Q&A with Bonnie Peterson, our new Student Ministry Summer Intern
Johannah Huber

Meet Bonnie ☀️

We’re excited to introduce one of our 2026 Summer Student Ministry Interns: Bonnie Peterson!

Bonnie first heard about Orangewood through her friend Caroline, who was in Bible study with her at UCF before eventually joining the Orangewood team as our Student Ministry Coordinator. After hearing about how much Caroline loved serving here and seeing the way the Lord was moving through Orangewood, Bonnie knew she wanted to be part of it too.

Now stepping into the role of Summer Intern, Bonnie is especially excited to pour into students and walk alongside them in their faith journeys.

“When I was in middle and high school, I wish I had had someone intentionally guiding me in my faith journey, and I want to do that for others,” Bonnie said.

🎓 Life Lately

Bonnie is currently a junior at UCF and will be a senior this fall, where she studies Health Services Administration. Recently, though, she’s begun feeling a call toward ministry and is excited to see how the Lord continues growing that passion this summer.

Outside of school, Bonnie serves as a leader with Cru at UCF and recently volunteered at a high school summer camp, an experience that only deepened her love for student ministry and discipleship.

🌴 A Little About Bonnie

Originally from Boca Raton, Florida, Bonnie grew up close to the beach and comes from a very close-knit family. She has two older brothers and loves spending time traveling and making memories together with her family.

She describes herself as someone who loves connecting with people, encouraging others, and sharing honestly from her own experiences in hopes that it points people toward Jesus.

🤠 Bonnie’s Quick Hits

  • Favorite Food: Blackened mahi sandwich
  • Favorite Restaurant: Flanagan’s back home in Boca
  • Favorite Music: Country music
  • Favorite Author: Ben Stuart
  • Guilty Pleasure: Line dancing at The Barn in Sanford
  • Hidden Talent: Juggling

Yes, really.

Bonnie spent years baton twirling growing up, which is where she learned how to juggle. We’ll definitely be asking her to prove it at some point this summer.

🏐 Outside of Ministry

When she’s not busy with school or serving with Cru, Bonnie loves spending time with friends and staying active. She even started an intramural co-ed volleyball team at UCF with some of her friends from Cru.

Between volleyball games, beach trips home, and late nights line dancing with friends, Bonnie brings a ton of fun energy into everything she does.

❤️ Looking Ahead to Summer

Bonnie is most excited to build relationships with students and create spaces where they feel encouraged, known, and supported in their faith.

We’re so excited to have Bonnie serving with Student Ministry this summer! If you see her around, be sure to say hello — and maybe ask her to show off her favorite line dance.
