Weekly Beatitudes Devotional: Blessed are the Persecuted
November 01, 2022
There have been many ideas throughout history from philosophers and teachers on what the good life is or who is truly blessed in life. While we often think of Jesus as the King of Kings or friend of sinners, we can forget that he also was the great teacher! The Sermon on the Mount starts with eight characteristics of a person who is truly blessed, and provides us with the stepping stones to true discipleship.
In our focus on being a follower of Jesus, it's important for us to learn what that really looks like and how our lives change because of it. We learn that Jesus knows the way to the good life we're all looking for, but it's different than our culture would think.
It's a counter-cultural life, and it's only found through following him. Our purpose in this Beatitudes series is to delve into these topics of a "blessed person", and apply it to our own lives.
We've created a devotional that can be done once a week, complete with a space for sermon notes, some text for a devotional and weekly questions!
This is a great way to engage with this series outside of Sunday worship, and we hope you pick up one in the lobby on Sunday!
We also have a digital version available!
