A Congregational Meeting is being called for Sept 17, immediately following worship for the purpose of electing new elders and deacons. These candidates have been duly nominated by members, trained, and examined over the past few months. You can read about them below!
Elder Candidates
Jeff Cardinali
Jeff Cardinali has been a member of Orangewood since 1998. He attends Orangewood with his wife, Marie, and their adult sons, Andrew and Aaron. Jeff enjoys serving on the Finance Committee and in OKids worship. Jeff and Marie have been long-time members of the Drane community group. Jeff has been a CPA for the Florida Auditor General's office for 27 years.
Deacon Candidates
Ken Baker
Ken Baker and his wife, Karen, have been members at Orangewood since 2010. They met in the RUF Ministry at UF and were married in 2000. Ken and Karen have three children that have attended OCS since preschool, twins Amelia and Isabel (10th grade) and James (8th grade). Ken has been a Physician Assistant for 24 years, mainly in surgery, and he looks forward to using the practical gifts God has given him to serve the church.
John Philbrick
John Philbrick and his wife, Beth, have been members at Orangewood for twenty-five years. They have two grown children, Matthew (OCS class of 2006)) and Anna (OCS class of 2009). While based in Orlando, John worked as an engineer in construction Project Controls and Management from 1995 until he retired in 2021. John has been a Christian since his youth. Now that he has retired and has more free time, he would like to be involved with Orangewood Church as a Deacon.
Bill Platts
Bill Platts has been a member of Orangewood since 2014. He attends with his wife, Heather, and their sons, Harrison and Pierce, who recently became students at OCS. Bill and Heather are currently members of a community group at Orangewood. Bill also attends Forge at Orangewood and participates in a men's home bible study with neighbors from local PCA churches. He has been a partner at "Slocum Platts Architects" in Maitland for 29 years.
Chris Voltzke
Chris Voltzke has been a member of Orangewood since 2008. He attends Orangewood with his wife, Victoria, and their children, Lucas and Emma. Chris co-leads a community group and is involved in a men's Bible study led by Mark Ferguson. Recently, after 17 years of teaching with Orange County Public Schools, Chris joined the Starbase of Central Florida team as an educator in the STEM learning lab.
