There is a little book that was written in 1970 called “A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23”, written by a man named Phillip Keller. Keller grew up a child of missionaries in Africa, witnessing firsthand Middle Eastern shepherds keep their flocks. Later, he became a shepherd himself. This little book has been immensely helpful for me as I seek to understand what a shepherd does so that I can better know the sort of Shepherd our Lord is.
